Parks and Gardens
The dry riverbed of the old Túria river: The site of the once steady flowing river Túria is nowadays a haven for cyclists, walkers, sports enthusiasts, music lovers and botanists. The riverbed runs for 7 kilometres from Cabecera park in the west to the City of Arts and Sciences in the east. Within this stretch of beautifully kept park you will find paths and walkways running under some of the most fantastic bridges to be found anywhere. The municipal music hall or Palau de la Música sits in a majestic setting fronted by an extravagant fountain. The immaculate work of world famous architect Santiago Calatrava is dotted all over the riverbed.

Parque de Cabecera: Found at the western end of the riverbed, this exquisitely planned parkland is a mixture of communal playground and nature reserve. It contains an artificial lake which is fed by the source of the old river, an outdoor auditorium which host live music an theatre throughout the year. The park is ideal for picnics, boat rides and leisurely strolls.
Botanical Gardens:
It's a well kept secret that Valencia has one of the oldest Botanical gardens in Europe. Founded in 1567 by the University of Valencia as a way to cultivate medicinal plants. The garden is hailed by many famous european botanists as a masterpiece for its many centuries-old trees. Within the grounds of the Botanical gardens you will also find a conferencecentre and a space dedicated to promoting live music and concerts. The gardens are open all year round from 10am to 6pm in winter and 10am to 9pm in Summer, closing on Mondays.
Jardin de las Hesperides: In Greek mythology 'hesperides' means the nymphs. Although today you will find it hard to encounter any nymphs, save for the statues, what you will be treated to is a visual array of ornamental orange and lemon trees and aromatic and medicinal plants. The real treat of these gardens is the system of irrigation channels that run around it. On a sunny morning you can sit in the shade and listen to the dreamy gurgle of the water. The gardens are to be found beside the Botanical gardens. Open all year from 10am until dusk.
