Valencia's Museums Part 2
The Modern Art Institute of Valencia 'IVAM': The IVAM is a unique way of looking at 20th century art with 21st century eyes. With its mix of permanent and temporary exhibitions the modern art institute is constantly improving and raising its credentials. The ultra-modern building was constructed atop some ancient foundations of the city of Valencia.

The Rice Museum: Rice is only rivaled by oranges and the bat as the quintessential emblem of Valencia. The rice museum, found in the Cabanyal district, is housed in a one time working rice processing factory. It is full of demonstrations and information on the history of rice cultivation in Valencia.
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 2pm, then from 5pm to 9pm.

The Museum of Fine Arts: Valencia's museum of Fine Arts is considered one of the most important and outstanding in Spain. The building which houses the Fine Arts museum is steeped in history. Established in 1683, it was at one time the site of a school called after Saint Pius the 5th. The great marvels contained within the museum are by far the vast collections of historic paintings and drawings. These are complimented by many sculptures and archives that document Valencia's artistic past. The artists on show include local Valencian greats from the renaissance period and also Ribera, Murillo, Goya and Sorolla.

The Fallas Museum: Every year, since 1934, the ninot lucky enough to escape the flames of the Night of Fire on march 19th is salvaged and stored in the impressive Fallas museum in Monteolivete. The museum displays the best imagery and memories of the Fallas, including the elaborate posters that advertised this magical festival down through the years.

The Bullfighting Museum: Founded in the year 1929, the Bullfighting Museum is a testament to the high esteem with which this 'sport' is held in Valencia. It features an archive section that allows you to appreciate the brutal beauty of bullfighting. It can be found at the side entrance to the bullring.

The Ceramics Museum: This museum lets you know that the art of making ceramics is alive and well in Valencia and has been for centuries. Within the museum itself you can avail of workshops and an expansive library. Examples of this intimate craftsmanship can be seen all over Valencia and especially in the suburb of Manises.
