In recent years Valencia has become a focal pont for air travelers. More and more companies are setting up base in Valencia's Manises airport. Most companies fly direct from many major cities to Valencia and from all over the world via Madrid or Barcelona. The airport is located in the suburb of Manises, approximately 7 km from the city centre. presently (April 2006) the easiest way to the city centre is by taxi. 15 euros is the most one can expect to pay for this taxi ride. Work is presently being done on the elongation of the number 5 metro line which will join the airport with the city centre. The 'Aerobus' service runs to and from the airport to the city centre. This bus leaves from just outside the departures entrance from 6am until 10pm everday and costs €2.50 one-way. Book the cheapest flights to Valencia.
By Train
There are plenty of trains running from most major cities, including express and direct trains from Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia's central train station is called "Estación del Norte". Conveniently located in the very heart of the city, the building itself is a beautiful example of turn of the century art deco. By Car
For anyone who wants to take the scenic route into Valencia, a car is the best option. The advantage of bringing or renting a car is that you are free to come and go as you wish and stop wherever you want. For those arriving into Spain from France, the quickest route is the A7 via Barcelona. If you are coming via Madrid follow the A3 all the way into Valencia city centre.
By Bus
As in the case with a car, taking the bus means road travel. Most major cities have regular bus services running to and from Valencia. Average prices for an adult return ticket from, for example, Barcelona to Valencia is €35.
